Snapshot rules
Reviews, store ratings and community reaction move quickly during launch week. This page records a useful Aug 4, 2026 snapshot, but any score, percentage or review count should be checked again before being reused in a headline.
The strongest recurring theme across reviews is that Big Walk lives or dies by co-op communication: proximity voice, text limits, gestures, tools, getting lost and making shared names for strange objects.
Critic and store snapshot
Use this table for reception context, not as a permanent score box.
| Source | Captured signal | Wiki handling |
|---|---|---|
| OpenCritic | 15 critic reviews, Mighty tier, roughly 89 score and 87% recommendation shown on Aug 4, 2026 | Treat as a dynamic aggregator snapshot and link the live page. |
| Steam store | Very Positive; Steam appreviews API showed 455 positive, 102 negative and 557 total reviews; US Steam price was $14.99 with a 25% discount on Aug 4, 2026 | Record capture date for rating, review count and price. |
| Metacritic | Review index with early PC reviews listed on launch day | Use as a review directory and recheck live scores before publishing numbers. |
| r/Games review thread | Aggregated discussion around press reception, player count, length and Switch 2 performance | Summarize patterns only; do not copy long comments. |
| r/CoOpGaming review post | Co-op-focused player discussion around difficulty, group size and completion time | Use as a lead for FAQ and group-size pages. |
Review themes to reuse
These are paraphrased themes from launch reviews and hands-on coverage. They are useful for article introductions, but each page should still link the original review.
| Theme | Where it appears | Best page to improve |
|---|---|---|
| Communication is the core puzzle | PC Gamer, The Verge, PlayStation Blog and several review threads | Communication guide and beginner tips. |
| The world is intentionally low-pressure | The Guardian, Kotaku and media previews | Starter guide and map guide. |
| The lack of matchmaking is a real design constraint | Official FAQ, Kotaku commentary and Reddit LFG posts | Community LFG and multiplayer guide. |
| Groups create their own language for objects | Kotaku object-name article and GamesRadar hands-on notes | Tools, puzzles and community pages. |
| Switch 2 performance needs versioned tracking | r/Nintendo discussion and NintendoEverything review | Performance and compatibility page. |
| Spoilers should be handled gently | Co-op review discussions and puzzle-guide requests | Puzzle solutions and walkthrough pages. |
How to cite reviews on this wiki
Avoid copying review conclusions or long excerpts. A good wiki use is one sentence of paraphrase plus a source card. If a review mentions a mechanic already covered by the wiki, improve the mechanic page instead of making a loose quote collection.
When a publication gives a score, record the outlet, date and platform tested. If an aggregator score changes, update the capture date or remove the exact number from the page.
