Core rule for every new material

Every new item should record where it came from, what kind of source it is and whether the wiki has verified it directly. Official pages are preferred for stable facts, while community posts and third-party guides are treated as leads until they are reproduced or cross-checked.

Do not publish private identifiers such as friend codes, Discord IDs, avatars or screenshots from community posts without permission. For forum content, summarize the useful pattern and link the original thread.

Source handling checklist

Use this table before moving any text, screenshot, video, map route or guide note into the public site.

Material typeAllowed wiki useRequired note
Official videosEmbed YouTube or platform players; do not download and rehost unless permission is explicit.Name the official channel or platform and link the original video.
Press Kit images, GIFs and logosUse as article covers, media references and social images when the Press Kit allows it.Keep House House/Panic attribution and link the Press Kit.
Official FAQ factsUse as the highest-priority source for platforms, player count, saves, chat, accessibility and support.Link the FAQ and record the capture date when the field may change.
ScreenHype guidesRewrite routes, lists and tips in this wiki's voice; remote-link images only when the page carries visible credit.Name ScreenHype, author, date and article URL.
Reddit and Steam postsSummarize recurring needs, questions and reception signals.Avoid copying long comments, usernames, friend codes, avatars and screenshots without consent.
PCGamingWikiUse as a settings or troubleshooting lead.Respect CC BY-NC-SA requirements before reusing structured content.
BigWalk.wiki and other fan wikisUse as a discovery map for topics, not as copy source.Rewrite independently and verify with official sources or gameplay.
Maps and puzzle routesPublish with spoiler level, source URL, route version and verification state.Record whether the wiki has reproduced the route in-game.

Attribution fields to keep

When a new source is added to data.ts, the source card should include title, URL, publisher, author when available, date when available and a short note explaining what was used. If the item is dynamic, such as Steam review counts or Reddit sentiment, include the capture date in the page text.

For guide screenshots, the caption should say whether the image is official Press Kit media, a third-party article image or a locally captured gameplay screenshot. That distinction matters because the reuse rules are different.

Spoilers and verification

Puzzle, route, collectible and ending material should be labeled before the solution appears. If a page comes from a third-party route and this wiki has not reproduced it, keep the verification text visible in the article header.

A confirmed guide entry should include the game version or patch date, platform, player-count world and at least one route landmark or screenshot. That gives future editors a way to re-check the material after updates.

Sources & attribution

Source note: Core multiplayer, platform and communication details are based on the official Big Walk FAQ and the Steam store page. Puzzle and map coverage will be marked confirmed after in-game verification.
